Tinbet started making jewelry in l986 when she opened
her gift shop, Heritage, in Ivory Coast, Abidjan
(West Africa). She was fascinated with the beauty of
jewelry from around the world.
Tinbet travels to many countries with her husband
through his international work. She shops the
local markets searching for beautiful beads and
ornaments symbolic of the local women's customs.
Tinbet has watched craftsmen roll hot glass in their
hands making tiny beads and values the richness of
colors and textures created by the local artisans.
Anania Jewelry is named in honor of Tinbet's daughter,
Anania, because of the beauty and joy each brings to her life. Anania means Unique. For Tinbet, making jewelry is more than a hobby; it is a connection with the oneness of all the women of the world.
Tinbet is an international woman. She worked as a volunteer in different countries with women's organizations and continues those efforts locally in Boulder, Colorado.
Born in Ethiopia, Tinbet is a United States citizen. She speaks English, French, and Amharic.
